Resentment in BJP over selecting leaders to receive PM | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 19: Strong resentment brewing among senior leaders of BJP over pick and choose policy adopted by the leadership in selecting leaders to receive Prime Minister, Narendra Modi during his visit to campus of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU). While as some junior leaders were given opportunity to receive Prime Minister at two places-one at Jammu Airport and second at Helipad at SMVDU, many senior leaders were deliberately ignored to have direct interaction with the Prime Minister. Although official function at SMVDU campus was turned out to be BJP rally yet a number of BJP MLAs were conspicuously missed the function as mark to protest against pick and choose policy adopted to select leaders to receive Prime Minister. More importantly, Udhampur MLA, Pawan Gupta, under whose constituency some portion of SMVDU falls, was also important among those who missed the function. Credible sources in the BJP said that list to receive Prime Minister was prepared by the state unit of BJP and later it was sent to the Prime Minister Office (PMO) for approval. Names of some senior leaders were deliberately deleted from the list which was prepared on the direction of the senior minister in the government. Some junior leaders, who have joined BJP recently, was provided opportunity to receive the Prime Minister at Jammu Airport but some veteran leaders who have been associated with the party since the days of Jan Sangh were singled out. |
