Early Times Report
jammu, May 15: Contrary to the directions of the Minister for CAPD for timely distribution of ration, situation on ground is different as people are craving for timely and adequate supply of ration to them. Though the consumers of Jammu city have got Atta of this month, they are still craving for sugar which is unavailable since three months. Ration dealers put blame on the department for its utter failure in providing the sugar but now the Government maintained that due to non-fixation of tender for sugar with miller there is delay in providing the sugar and fresh negotiations were on. Sources divulge that worst ever ration crisis was prevailing across Jammu province and the onus is on the CAPD officers and the Minister for ensuring the consumers were not deprived of their due quota. "People of the hilly districts of Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar,Udhampur, Bhaderwah, Reasi etc people of these areas are up in arms against the CAPD for implementing the NFSA in a hush hush manner as they were craving for ration and they alleged that they won't get ration as per old scale. Consumers opine that the CAPD department should publish the circular in local dailies in order to apprise the masses as it has been observed that unscrupulous dealers dupe gullible consumers and deprive them of their legitimate scale. Sources further said Government makes claims of providing ration according to census 2011 but it seems that it is mere an eyewash. When contacted, senior official of the CAPD wishing anonymity said "we are on the job to provide the ration in hilly districts and urge them to keep patience". When asked when sugar will be provided, he said" Government is going to finalize the contract with the miller shortly and hopefully from next month, sugar would be available". |
