Early Times Report
Jammu, July 9: About 200 families displaced from POJK in 1947 and duly registered with PRO Jammu and settled by the Govt. in Tripuri Town, Patiala (Punjab).
Many other families after partition, were settled by the government in other States like Madhya Pradesh ,Rajasthan, Delhi ,Maharashtra , Nalagarh , Dehradun , and Uttar Pradesh etc.
An ex-gratia of Rs 3500/-per family in1960-70 was disbursed to the DPs of POJK 1947 by PRO Jammu through its rehabilitation offices at Jallandhar (Punjab) and through different offices in other States.
No other help was provided to these families by any Govt. for their movable / immovable properties left behind. Ministry Of Home Affairs had already informed the department related parliamentary Standing Committee (Report No 183 )that as per the available Records, 31,619 families were registered with the Rehabilitation Organisation , out of which 26319 families opted to settle down within the State itself and 5300 families settled outside the State of J&K (Delhi 1,901 families ,Maharashtra 123 families ,Rajsthan 495 families and other States 2781 families ).
We are also in receipt of a letter from Joint Secretary (FFR), Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt.Of India, New Delhi in response to our representation for inclusion of the DPs of other States in any Financial Package to be disbursed by the Government .
It reads as "J&K Govt. has been requested to incorporate those DPs in Rehabilitation Package who have settled in other states of Country.
But as per latest reports coming through different media ,the DPs of other states are being left out of this package which is grave injustice with our DPs who are very much State Subject of Jammu and Kashmir State. We ,therefore , raise the voice of POJK DPs residing in other states of the country through your newspaper to make the things clear by the state as well as Central Govt. before finalizing the disbursement process of the financial Package so that no DP is ignored due to confusion.
