Drug peddler sent to 7 day police custody | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar July 9: Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Kishtwar Balbir Singh Jaswal today granted seven days police remand of a drug peddler arrested by the Kishtwar police on Tuesday. "The accused has been identified as Farooq Ahmed son of Abdul Khalil resident of Kokarnag Srinagar at present Astan Bala Kishtwar, official sources said. As per the details available, police party led by Sub Inspector Anchal Rana today produce the accused Farooq Ahmed before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Kishtwar who after going through the Case Dairy Reporting of Police granted seven days remand to police for further investigation into the case. Here it needs to mention that three days initial remand granted by the Tehsildar Kishtwar in the case was expired today. "The said accused was booked under FIR No. 134/2016 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act," police informed the court. Pertinent to mention that accused allegedly was selling the Charas to young boys at various places in Kishtwar town and its peripheral areas. Local people has appreciated the role of Kishtwar police and demanded comprehensive plan to curb the growing drug menace in the District. Meanwhile PDP Youth President Kishtwar Wasil Doolwal demanded invoking of Public Safety Act (PSA) against drug peddlers and urged the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar to identify the drug peddlers and book them under the said act so as to save younger generation. |
