Poonch, July 10: Government of India has introduced a scheme Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) for poor unemployed labourer of the nation, but in reality on ground it is not visible anywhere.
According to the sources people of far flung villages of Poonch district allege the rural development department and said the employees are harassing poor masses. People from villages Bandi Chechyan, Chandak, Ajote, Degwar, Mangnar, Jhulas and Khneter and many panchayats said that they have done their work under MGNREGA scheme, but are waiting for payments since a long.
Mohd Jahangir, Mohd Khalil, Rajive Sudan, Ranjeet Singh, Ajaz Ahmed and many others said the scheme has totally failed in district Poonch, as none of the officer of the said department shows his responsibility towards the department.
They have appealed the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to intervene in the matter personally and solve the problem of public. They also demanded the matter should be investigated through different agencies. |
