Early Times Report

Jammu, July 10: The Centre has taken a serious view of the intelligence failure and the security grid especially for the internal security resulting in heavy death toll after the killing of the dreaded terrorist Burhan Wani. The Centre has sought detailed reply from the state government for 'unpreparedness' in handling the situation.
"It was apprehended that violence could trigger after the death of Burhan Wani. When the intelligence and security agencies had information of him being cordoned off at that very moment the preventive and precautionary steps should have been taken. Why the state apparatus was found napping," said a senior Home ministry official.
The Centre has also taken very serious view of the manner in which situation has developed. "It seems the state government has not learnt any lesson from the 2010 situation. It had same set of officials then why they were not prepared in handling a volatile situation. What lessons have they learnt? An explanation has to be given and the officials failing in the duty have to be fixed," said the official.
The central intelligence agencies have been repeatedly telling the state government of the impending danger of the likely volatile situation in the eventuality of the killing of the Burahan Wani. They had even been telling them to put the entire set up in the place to counter it and handle the situation in a manner that there is no loss of live and it could have negated the separatists and terrorist narrative.
"Unfortunately the killing of the civilians has only strengthened the hands of the separatists and terrorists and has seriously dented the policies of the Modi Government on the Kashmir. We don't want a repeat of 2010 and it seems so officials are trying to repeat it to discredit the government. We are at it and soon some of them will face the music," said the official.
