"All the surrounding villages have been electrified some two decades ago but our village has been neglected and are left without the -light- 'electricity," said Saif Din panch of Upper Galiote. He was joined in by some locals who told 'Early Times' that Centre claims to have provided adequate funds to all States especially for those living in downtrodden society in accordance with Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) and Deen Dayal Upadhaya Gram Jyoti Yojana(DDUGJY) but we still are left out these centrally sponsored schemes despite living just 15 kms away from the motorable road head. "The successive state governments have so far ignored us because of our social status and poverty, they alleged. Citing examples of non electrified villages, locals counted that hamlets which are without electricity are Galiote, Upper Galiote, and Chaka Ganan in Galiote panchayat and chai loudhra, Madyal, Simnigali, Sansari Village of Badhota Panchayat in Panchari Tehsil. One Munshi Ram Nadayla recalled that somewhere in 2011, electric polls and transformer and other material were to installed in village Chai Loudhra, Madyal, Simnigali, by a private company under Centrally-sponsored RGGVY scheme which gave people of area a reasons to rejoice but their jubilations were short as after lapse of five years the things are as were on first stage and many of them are reduced to junk now. The residents of these villages lamented that the non electrification of villages have added miseries to their day today lives as students and elders are the worst sufferers. "Even in the 21st century, the students of these villages are burning virtual mid night oil as they are forced to use firewood torch/kerosene oil lamps to prepare for studies, said student Sunita Devi, adding, "we sometimes don't even get kerosene for lamps." Locals now almost have given up their hope to get their village electrified. A hexagenarian Jaswant Singh of village Loudhra briefly said, "I have lived like this for as long as I can remember., Despite repeated requests before political representatives and civil administration several times, there has been no improvement, resident of Chai Loudhra, Simni Gali, According to locals the Power Development Department (PDD) Udhampur authorities shifting blames briefly said the project in 2011 was left halfway due to some dispute the private company which was assigned to electrify Sansari, Chai, Loudhra, Madyal, Simnigali, villages under first phase of RGGVY.
