Mess in Govt Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Admin unmoved | Sweepers doing job of Paramedical staff | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 22: Higher ups in State Health Department claim that a numbers of steps have been taken to streamline functioning of the hospitals and provide free medical facilities to patients at their door step but it seems administration in Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar is leaving no stone unturned to harass patients. Moreover, instead of paramedical staff, a sweeper is seen to replace fluid bottles at evening in the different wards of the hospital and it seems sweepers are well trained to do job of the staff in the absence of paramedical staff. "When I got admitted in the hospital, I have seen some employees' worst behavior toward patients admitted in the hospital. Patients were seen screamed with pain and asked to provide treatment on time but staff on duty turned deaf ear toward the patients, "a patient (Naresh) narrated, who was suffering from a disease few days ago. Patient's attendant said on the same day a 24 to 26 year old boy visited in few wards and changed fluid bottles and did other work in the absence of staff. He was shocked that the same boy was picking up garbage or waste material from dustbins of the hospital. "Some nurses on duty provide all necessary help to patients but few nurses or NO asked to patient buy all things even 'Voveran' injection from the medical shops, "he added. Knowing the attitude of some staff, the senior doctors were seen to visit wards and asked to patients that wheather patient is getting treatment on time or not, Sources within hospital told Early Times and adding that patient's attendant has to find to staff for changing fluid. "Behavior of some staff was most painful with already suffering patient from diseases but higher administration has least bothered to visit the ward. Most interesting, all types of fluid and basic drugs are being provided to the government hospitals by the Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation (JKMSC). Sources alleged that whenever asked to about free medical facilities, the staff claim that there is nothing free, everything has to buy from private medical shops even fluid and its kit Moreover, Sources further stated that no one is bothered to enquiry condition of patient who are admitted in different wards of the hospital except concern doctor. However, Medical Superintendent of Gandhi Nagar Hospital Jammu, Dr Madhuri Gupta said that she will look into the matter and take strict action in this regard. |
