Omar 'annoys' Modi govt by boycotting all-party meet | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 22: The Modi-led NDA government has taken a serious note of the NC boycott of the all party meet convened by chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to diffuse the situation in the valley. The NC boycott has come at a time when Shrimoni Akali Dal, a key ally of BJP, has praised the party's 'nationalistic' credentials in the parliament. According to sources, the senior NC leadership was in support of attending the meet to diffuse the situation as many of the them believed that it was not the right time for political scoring. "We were of the view that any effort to diffuse the tension must have been supported. Look at Congress which has joined it despite making a scathing attack on BJP in the parliament, but Omar Abdullah categorically rejected the offer of attending the all-party meet," said a senior NC leader. "Omar holds the view that PDP should be exposed for it alleged failure to control the situation and his party should not be seen his bête-noire," sources alleged. "It is the same Omar Abdulllah who had offered support to PDP to form government in the state for the purpose of keeping BJP out of the power. Now, he doesn't bother to even attend the meeting which was aimed at bringing peace to the valley. This is likely to go against NC in the next state polls," sources opined. "Omar, it seems, is trying to send a message that he doesn't want to share anything with a party which has joined BJP," sources said. Sources alleged that the Modi government was not happy with NC over its decision to boycott the all-party meet. |
