MPEJ demands further amendments in laws on private schools | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 22: The members of Movement for Peace Equality & Justice, Kuldeep Kumar Rao & Ram Singh Chauhan in a joint statement issued here, have said that it is a welcome step that Government of India has started discarding/ deleting some Acts of irrelevance from the books of laws which are not useful for public in general. At the same time, it is equally important to make some amendments in the existing laws/Acts which are harming public instead of doing any good to them in our state, they urged. For example take the case of Provident Fund being uselessly applied to private school teachers who get the temporary job with meager wages, out of economic compulsions, for few months only. They are being forced to subscribe to the fund at any cost & in return, end up the job. Would it not be proper to categories the schools in respect of strength & the range of wages being paid so that some rationale is established? Citing an example a private school teacher with less than Rs 3000/monthly wages & a school with less than 150 strength cannot be expected to abide by the standing norms. And worst to make the mess of the situation is that there is no norms in respect of distances for opening a new school, as a result there is mushrooming growth of private schools in each mohalla the enrollment in each school is decreasing with each passing day consequently some private schools are the verge of closing their institutions. Will the Education Minister, Naeem Akhter & top educational brass see to it and take steps to set the things right & stop harassment to the young educated un-employed youth, urged MPEJ The government should see to it compassionately so that the young, harassed & frustrated youth are not diverted to stone pelting. The law makers are well & timely sounded to make required changes or amendment in the relevant clauses of Provident Fund rules. Both the activists said that private schools are helping government in imparting quality education to the younger generation on one hand and providing employment to the frustrated educated un-employed on the other hand and in the consequence, government instead of encouraging private schools, are inflicting injuries upon them in the form of taxing the poor students like Provident fund tax, municipal council/committee tax, labour department tax, inspection tax of various departments etc, which is very unfortunate. |
