SKUAST-TAJ condemns attack on dailts | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 29: Terming it a social terror, SKUAST -Teaching Association Jammu (SKUAST-TAJ) strongly condemned the recent shocking incident in Gujarat where dalit community members / youths were savagely beaten / humiliated publicly and demanded that a Central Government should ensure the safety / security of dalits at any cost. In a press statement, SKUAST-TAJ President, Dr. Vikas Sharma said that mal-behaviour with dalits in Gujarat and other States is a shame for the whole country. "We are with dalits, brethren express solidarity and recommend strong action against the culprits. Dr. Vikas further expressed that brutal atrocities against dalits / marginalized people / minorities have gone up and are continuing with impunity, shaming us all. Responding to the news regarding dalit members attempting suicide in different places over the Una incident, he appealed dalit youths to not attempt suicide. He also said that recent incidents in J&K were tragic and it required introspection as to what had driven scores of youth to such levels of anger, protest and violence. Recent events in our State pose grave danger to the country where Kashmir Valley has been battling unrest for almost two weeks that has left 44 people dead. |
