Barkha gets support from Lashkar chief Hafiz Saeed | What an irony! | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 29: What an irony! Barkha Dutt of NDTV24X7, who has been at the receiving end in India for her pro-separatist and anti-security forces' reporting from Kashmir and Delhi, on Friday got support from Lashkar chief Hafiz Saeed, mastermind of the 26/11 deadly Mumbai terror attacks. It is to be noted that Consulting editor with NDTV, Barkha Dutt, repeatedly spoke against the alleged "state's atrocities in Kashmir" and she was criticized by Times Now President and Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami. Goswami had criticised the section of "pseudo-liberals" in his programme, without naming any one of them, for "compromising national security" and "supporting Pakistan". "How long will we be silent against these elements?" he thundered. "Do these people compromise our national security or not? Your and my security. And if they do, which we know they do, why do you think we let them get away, why don't we take on these people?", he had said. In his Tuesday night's programme, Newshour, Goswami had hinted towards Dutt and demanded trial against "certain sections of Indian media". "I agree bring them to trial," he had said. "I say not bringing them to trial compromises my country further, and I don't care if some of these people are in the media. Bring them to trial too," he had also said. Barkha Dutt and her ilk in the Indian media have faced criticism by their fellow journalists for speaking against the human rights abuses allegedly carried out by security forces in Kashmir, however, Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief and founder of Lashkar-e-Toiba Hafiz Saeed praised Burkha Dutt and similar other Indian journalists for supporting Kashmiri people. Hafiz Saeed today commended Dutt "for her stance on the recent wave of violence in Kashmir" that has claimed at least 40 lives. "India accuses me of wrongdoings to cover for its terrorist activities when I talk about Kashmir. But, there are good people like Barkha Dutt", Saeed said while talking to a private TV channel. That there are some Indian journalists based in Delhi who instead of presenting to the nation a true picture of facts have been distorting them is a sorry state of affairs. It was time to tell the nation what led to the present turmoil in Kashmir and how the seditious crowds had attacked the security forces, but they chose otherwise, this helping anti-nationals in Pakistan and Kashmir to unleash a misinformation campaign with a view to tarnishing the Indian image in the eyes of the international community. And that Barkha Dutt got support from Hafiz Saeed has only damaged the image of the Indian media. It is obvious that that the support that she got from dreaded terrorist and India's number one enemy would not go down well with the nation. Let's see if she and her ilk change her views taking into consideration the national interest. |
