Land encroachment case: SVC directs VO to expedite probe | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 3: The State Vigilance Commission (SVC) while reviewing the progress made by Vigilance Organisation in investigation of cases of public importance, especially the land encroachment matters, has directed the Vigilance Organisation (VO) that investigation in such cases be concluded in a time bound manner. SVC issued these directions while reviewing the progress of investigation of a March 14, 2013 case regarding the alleged encroachment over state forest land by some persons in the Mahamaya forest area at Dwada here. The VO report submitted to SVC prima- facie revealed that about 374 kanals of state forest land in khasra No 59/41 in Mahamaya forests at Dwada had been encroached by some persons in connivance with some revenue and forest officials of the area, besides the concerned public servants, by gross misuse of their official powers dishonestly and fraudulently. All of them were alleged to have manipulated the revenue records to facilitate some 'identified' private persons for encroachment over the forest land, thereby causing a huge loss to the state exchequer. SVC directed VO to ensure that investigation in the matter was completed early so that departmental and legal action was initiated against those involved under relevant provisions of law and the encroached land was retrieved to the state. |
