Rajouri, Aug 3: An Ayurvedic doctor posted at district hospital at Rajouri under Indian System of medicines (ISM) is likely to face departmental action for treating and prescribing Allopathic medicines to a patient who had suffered heart stroke reportedly by impersonating as a Physician. The condition of the patient after treatment has deteriorated and is kept in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is under treatment under the supervision of Dr Jameel, physician consultant. Mohd Maroof grandson of 60 years old Zia Bano ,who suffered heart stroke on July 31, has approached the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Rajouri against the ISM doctor RK Bajaj and has demanded action against him for allegedly impersonating as physician and for providing wrong treatment to her grand-mother. "The matter has been brought into my notice (written complaint). Before initiating any inquiry and keeping all the legal aspects in sight first the statements of the doctor (RK Bajaj), patient and her attendants will be recorded on Thursday" said Dr Mohd Younis ,CMO He added under rules / regulations an ISM doctor can't prescribe Allopathic medicines. If he (Dr Bajaj) was found guilty during investigation a suitable departmental action under rules will be taken against him. Important to mention here that the complainant has attached the prescription of Dr RK Bajaj with his complaint application in which Dr Bajaj has prescribed allopathic medicines and treated the patient for severe pain in the chest without conducting any ECG etc. On July 31 Zia Bano r/o Bagla Nadiyala was brought to the clinic of Dr Jameel near Abdullah bridge with a complaint of heart problem. As doctor Jameel has shifted his clinic to other place, Dr RK Bajaj had started attending patient at this place by reportedly impersonating himself as senior Medical Officer (MO) under registration No.18247/387 and also treated Zia Bano. On August 2, Zia Bano was rushed to district hospital in critical condition reportedly after wrong treatment given by ISM doctor and is under observation in Intensive care unit. Important to mention here that right under the nose of district administration and district health authorities most of the doctors (Surgeons) have been conducting major surgeries/interventions in the private health clinics which can only be conducted in the proper operation theaters as per guidelines. |
