Machail village in Kishtwar goes cellular | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Aug 3: Much to the delight of the people of remote Machail village of Padder Sub Division in Kishtwar District, cell phones have started functioning lThe village famous for blue sapphire has no electricity and road connectivity. Thr village is also known for Machail Mata pilgrimage. As per the details available with "Early Times" the BSNL Very High Frequency (VHF) tower becomes functional today afternoon which turns the whole village of Machail and its adjoining areas into celebration mood as people started calling their friends and family members informing them about the functioning of BSNL VHF tower in Machail. The people informed the "Early Times" that Member Parliament and MoS in PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh had made the announcement of installation of VHF tower in the village some two years ago added that after hectic efforts and follow up from the local MLA Sunil Kumar Sharma, the tower finally started its functioning today. They said that Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ghulam Nabi Balwan showed his keen interest in making the successful installation of BSNL VHF tower at Machail by helping in transportation of tower material, engineers and also provide every logistic support including follow up of the matter at personal level. They said that Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar is also making all its efforts in clearing the bottlenecks for smooth construction of 32 KM Gulabgard-Machail road which marked with court controversies over alignment of the road. When contacted Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ghulam Nabi Balwan confirm to "Early Times" about start of VHF mobile tower in Machail village added that with the functioning of mobile tower in the area, thousands of pilgrims travelling to Machail temple with get mobile connectivity. He said that keeping in view of ongoing Machail yatra, the tower was installed on the roof top of a building till the tower will be installed added that same will give connectivity to adjoining villages situated at some distance from the Machail. He said that tower material were dispatched by foot on mules while some material along with six engineering team were airlifted in a private chopper for erecting and making the tower functional for which over 1.50 lakhs were paid by the District administration as carriage and transportation charges. He said that solar system and generator sets will provide the electricity to the tower as village lacks electricity. He said that efforts are on to give electricity connectivity to the said village for which the discussion with the government for formulating a comprehensive plan for connecting the village is at advance stage. In response to delay in construction of Gulabgarh-Machail road, DC Kishtwar said that 8 KM road from Gulabgard to village Massu has been completed added that there was a dispute between village Ghar and Massu for which efforts are on to solve the dispute amicably. He said that within a week or two, the said dispute will be addressed. He said that the contractor had already been asked to leave the disputed area till the matter will be resolved with the said party. He said that in addition to 8 KM road, another 4 KM road has been constructed so far beyond disputed area. It is pertinent to mention that over 2.5 lakh pilgrims from different parts of the country visited Machail Matta Temple during annual pilgrimage, but due to non availability of road, electricity and other faculties as a result of which the pilgrims faces lot of inconvenience due to non availability of infrastructure which resulted in growing chorus with regard to establishment of Machail Matta Shrine Board on the pattern of Vashnu Devi Shrine Board and Amarnath Shrine Board so that huge number of pilgrims visiting every year to Machail will get better faculties. |
