Two Swiss nationals detained for unauthorized use of 'satellite' phone | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, Aug 11: The Army intelligence unit of Kishtwar today detained two Switzerland nationalist, a driver and a guide from near Thatri area for unauthorized use of satellite phone in Padder area of Kishtwar. As per the details available with "Early Times", Kishtwar based army intelligence unit some days ago intercepted a satellite phone signals from upper reaches of Padder in Kishtwar District and considering it nature of possible threat from anti national elements informed administration. "As per army intelligence unit neither Kishtwar police nor any other security agency is using the satellite phone in the area and nor District administration has accorded sanction to anyone for private use of the communication gadget, sources added. They said, "Taking cognizance in the matter, the local army intelligence unit started its investigation which reveals the presence of some foreigners in Padder area who are in the area in connection with trekking expedition and accordingly started monitoring their activities." As per the sources, the two Swiss nationals along with local guide and driver on their way to Jammu were intercepted near Thatri and after preliminary investigation detained all the four persons including the two Switzerland national for further questioning. 'During investigations and search of their belongings, no satellite phone was recovered from their possession however it came to fore that their other accomplice had left the Kishtwar in private chopper might have been using satellite phone.' "After preliminary investigation, army intelligence unit handed over them to local police which also have started investigations in this matter and is ascertain the identity of those who had left the Kishtwar in private chopper, sources added. Sources said that detained have been identified as Digvijay Thakur, Ranjit Jakkle Indian Nationals, Julian Zankar and Stephen Seigrist both Switzerland national. "The questioning of all the detained person is underway when last report came in, sources said. |
