Kishtwar observes peaceful shutdown | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Kishtwar, Aug 17: The people of Kishtwar today observed day long shutdown against the fresh spate of killings in Beerwah area of Kashmir on Tuesday in which 6 civilians were killed taking toll to 66 in Kashmir unrest so far triggered in wake of aftermath of Hizb commander Burhan Wani killing on July 8. As per the details available with "Early Times", the shutdown call was given by Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo at around10 PM on Tuesday in retaliation to fresh killings in Kashmir. On the said shutdown call, all the business establishment belongs to Muslim community remains closed, beside the private education institutes also remain closed; however the traffic normally ply on road. Keeping in view of shutdown, extra security forces were deployed in many sensitive areas of Kishtwar. Even though the day passed peacefully, but the situation in Kishtwar is still tense ahead of upcoming Friday. |
