Alleged case of DSP joining hands with 'accused' | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 17: A DSP, posted in Samba district, is alleged to have gone against the complainant just to help the 'accused'. A marriage, which was to be solemnised in an area that falls under his jurisdiction, was cancelled by the youth's parents a few days before the main function. The girl's parents, who felt insulted, then approached a senior police officer and submitted him a complaint against the youth's parents, police sources said. The senior officer marked the complaint in the name of the DSP concerned. It was alleged in the complaint that they had spent over Rs 2.5 lakh on making arrangements for the reception of barat. Sources said the DSP called both the parties to his office 2-3 times and then told the girl's family that the youth's family was not at fault and they could not do them any harm. The police officer was also alleged to have threatened the girl's family and asked them to accept Rs 50,000 and settle the dispute. The DSP was alleged to have taken a huge amount of bribe money from the youth's family to give his decision in their favour. Sources said he had also conveyed to his senior officer that he had amicably solved the matter. The girl's parents had now decided to approach another senior police officer for justice, sources said. |
