Higher grade accorded to MD Handicrafts withdrawn | 'Demoted officers again manage higher position' | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad
Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 17: Finding fault in the promotion orders of few blue eyed officers issued by the previous government, the incumbent government has taken a stern action against the decision based on a story published in Early Times. Early Times had reported about the illegal elevations of three General Managers to the post of Managing Directors by former Industries and commerce Minister Sajad Ahmad Kichloo. All such illegal promotions were reported by ET and the government took cognizance and accordingly after detailed enquiry, demoted two officers to their original place of posting. The elevations were done against all rules which could not stand when put to investigation. In another recently concluded inquiry against Managing Director Handicrafts, the case was found fit for withdrawal of the grade and pay scale. Sources said that by virtue of outcome of the enquiry, the Grade and pay scale of the said official was withdrawn and kept in abeyance. The said official was also elevated out of rules and out of turn from General Manger to Managing Director of the handicrafts corporation and the GAD was also not taken on board. Sources said that the said official is a diploma holder in civil engineering who had by wrongful means reached to the coveted post of Managing Director. His elevation was resented by the General Managers of the other corporation who claim to be senior to him. In the similar cases where the government found wrongful action of the then MOS Industries and Commerce, it demoted two former MDs to the post of General Managers and reverted them to their parent organization. Sources said among these three blue eyed officer two are possessing graduate engineering degrees where as another is holding diploma. If the sources are to be believed, all their educational qualifications have been put under scanner and the government is waiting for the report from the concerned educational institutions. Meanwhile in a surprising move two of the three demoted officers have been now allowed the designation of Director in one of the corporations against nonexistent vacancy. Sources said that it is not understood as to how these demoted officers have been allowed to be designated and function as directors without government approval and without availability of any vacancy. The general managers of the other corporations have questioned this move and have requested the government to intervene in the matter and seek withdrawal of such designation. |
