9 JCBs, 15 trollies seized for illegally extracting sand | | | Early Time Report
Jammu, Aug 17: Following directions from District Magistrate Jammu Simrandeep to stop all sort of extraction of minor minerals from rivers within one kilometers of all bridges structures, SHO Satwari today under the supervision of SSP Jammu, Sunil Gupta launched a joint operation along with Executive Magistrate Majid Hussain, Naib Tehsildar Satwari and seized nine JCBs and 15 Tractor and trollies being used for illegal extracting minor minerals viz. sand and stones near the Nikki Tawi Bridge. "It was reliably learnt that a large number of JCBs are extracting minor minerals like sand and bajri (stones) from River Nikki Tawi near Phallain Mandal Bridge," Police sources said here today. They said, "Due to which there is every likelihood of damage to the basement of the old Bridge as well as under construction new bridge during Floods and thus the machinery being used to extract sand and stones were seized." Accordingly a case under FIR no 160/2016 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Satwari. " The whole operation was supervised by SP South Shahzad Salaria along with SDM South Sonu Pargal, police sources added. Pertinently, Simranjeet Singh, District Magistrate Jammu has banned all sort of extraction of minor minerals from Rivers within one Kilometers of all such bridges/ structures. |
