BSF constable escaped with arms after stabbing his colleague, surrenders | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 17: The Border Security Force (BSF) constable who allegedly had stabbed his colleague and escaped with one LMG along with 10 magazines and 250 rounds today surrendered before his Unit Headquarters here at Akhnoor area. Police sources said, "The accused BSF constable identified as Rajeev Ranjan, (89 Battalion) resident of Darbangha in Bihar who managed to escape with a Light Machine Gun (LMG) and over 10 magazines and 250 rounds from the post on July 24 after stabbing his colleague at Border out Post (BoP) Beli Azmat in Kanachack Sector of Akhnoor Tehsil today surrendered infront of senior BSF officials." "The questioning of surrendree was in progress till late evening, sources said. They said that the BSF has initiated Court of Inquiry in the regard. Pertinently, Rajeev had some arguments with Rajbir Singh following which a scuffle was broke out between them over a minor feud. During scuffle, Rajeev stabbed Rajbir with a sharp-edges weapon and managed to escape with LMG, over 10 magazines and 250 rounds. Later, on July 26, BSF officials claimed that an accomplice of BSF absconder constable-Mukesh of Khurla Kingla, Jalandhar was arrested from Nakodar area of Punjab and the missing arms and ammunition were recovered from his possession. The deserter constable was also hiding in the same area but after having inputs about manhunt being launched by the BSF, had managed to escape from the area to his native village in Bihar District. Sources stated that the constable was missing since then, and today he surrendered before his Battalion Headquarters at Akhnoor. |
