Jammu, Sept 25: Asking players and the sportspersons to make nation proud at national and international levels, head of National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) Naveen Aggarwal has asked them to say no to drugs. ''Refrain from taking any drug as it would not only spoil your career but also tarnish the image of the country,'' Aggarwal said while speaking at a day-long workshop on Anti-Doping here last evening. He further said NADA has developed an extensive education programme namely Programme for Education and Awareness on Anti Doping in Sports (PEADS). ''PEADS is a comprehensive programme that has been planned with an objective to deal with different stakeholders in the country,'' asserted the NADA Chief. He said each one is clearly defined in this programme as key stakeholder, adding that the main stakeholders are NADA, followed by Sports Authority of India (SAI) and National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL). He however, also made budding sportspersons and coaches aware of ill-effects of doping during the workshop. Dr Ankush Gupta, member NADA in his address advised the coaches to hone the skills of the budding sportspersons to the fullest and keep a check on their activities. He said NADA was actively involved in educating the athletes/sportspersons located at various training centres throughout India. The workshop was organised by the J&K State Sports Council under the aegis of NADA. |
