Police slaps PSA against notorious bovine smuggler | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Sept 28: After a warrant under Public Safety Act (PSA) was issued by the District Magistrate recently, Rajouri police today detained notorious bovine smugglers from his residence at Nagrota by pass (Jammu) and brought him to Rajouri for further action and legal formalities. Police spokesperson said, "The accused identified namely as Baj Ali son of Abdul Rashid resident of Nagrota by pass (Jammu) was wanted by the Rajouri /Jammu police for his active involvement in the smuggling of bovine animals from Jammu, Nowshera, Sunderbani, Rajouri and many other places." "On the recommendations of Rajeshwar Singh, SSP Rajouri and a dossier mentioning that atleast five cases have been registered against the accused, the Police sources said, adding, "District Magistrate , Shabir Ahmed Bhat (Deputy Commissioner ) slapped PSA against Baj Ali and also issued arrest warrant against accused." Sources said that the accused earlier has been arrested by the Rajouri police twice, first from the locality under the jurisdiction of Police Station Rajouri and secondly under the jurisdiction of Police Station Nowshera and thus was booked in case FIR Nos.566/2015 and 224/2015 respectively under sections 188RPC and 3/5 PCA Act. Meanwhile Jammu police too have arrested the accused recently and have booked in case FIR No.88/2016 and under case FIR Nos.52/2015 & 206/2015. While confirming the arrest of Baj Ali, police sources said, "After the PSA was slapped against the accused recently a police team from Rajouri Police Station led by Sub Inspector Nasir Ahmed under directions from Rajeshwar Singh, SSP Rajouri rushed to Nagrota today morning and apprehended the accused from his residence." They added that the said accused was actively involved in many attempts of bovine smuggling to Kashmir Valley via Nowshera-Rajouri-Thanamandi and Mughal road. "The accused was first brought to Rajouri today for the completion of legal formalities and was shifted to Kot Bhalwal jail at Jammu in the evening" said senior police officer. |
