Birbal should join separatist camp! | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Sept 28: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti’s most trusted lieutenant nicknamed Birbal has evoked ridicule for urging students, teachers and others to read Syed Ali Geelani’s Wullar Kinary. The book depicts Geelani’s struggle for an education but the book also suggests what Birbal’s government has been fighting tooth and nail. The book urges the youth to stand up for their right to self determination. Geelani, for the information of Birbal, does not accept Jammu Kashmir’s accession to the Union of India. According to him, accession was never signed and India “annexed Kashmir by brute force and went back on its promise of holding a referendum.” The students, by and large, seem to have ignored Geelani’s struggle for education which Birbal wanted them to read. On Wednesday the students assembled at the Press Enclave here and demanded postponement of examinations. It is in place to mention here that the authorities published date sheet for tenth class examination last week. The examinations are scheduled to be held in November. If Birbal wants the boys to follow Geelani’s footsteps, then he should join the separatists camp as Geelani’s book instigates youth to `resort to violent’ means to achieve their goals. Birbal has been seen praising Geelani to keep him in good humor. Interestingly his government keeps Geelani caged while he urges people to follow him. What an irony!
