Sources said many MLAs including former ministers have been making efforts to be inducted into the cabinet. The PDP-BJP government is also going for a reshuffle as PDP has two Cabinet Ministers less than BJP. Sources within the PDP said the party has decided to re-induct former Minister Mohammad Altaf Bukhari into the cabinet. Mehbooba had dropped four Ministers including two Cabinet Ministers-Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and Javid Mustafa Mir-while Mohammad Ashraf Mir and Abdul Majeed Padroo were Minister of state in the previous PDP-BJP government led by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. "The decision to re-induct Altaf Bukhari into the Cabinet was taken in a previous meeting of the PDP," a PDP leader privy to the meeting said. "Very soon he will be re-inducted into the Cabinet." Similarly, a young MLA of south Kashmir is likely to be inducted as Minister of state. "He is a close a confidante of the Mehbooba Mufti. He will also be included into the Cabinet," the PDP leader said. Similarly, sources said an MLA from south Kashmir who is also holding the portfolio of the Minister of state is likely to be elevated as the Cabinet Minister. Earlier, four ministers were dropped from the cabinet by Mehbooba Mufti. With their non-inclusion in the cabinet, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti conveyed that no dissidence or indiscipline will be tolerated in the party. After dropping four ministers, the PDP inducted new faces including Zahoor Ahmad Mir and Syed Farooq Andrabi. Mir is three time MLA while Andrabi is the maternal uncle of Mehbooba. During a party meet, Mehbooba had reportedly told party leaders that dissents, indisciplined and non-performers won't be included in the government. Bukhari is party treasurer and represents Amira Kadal constituency in assembly while Javed Mustafa Mir represents Chadoora constituency. He won three elections in a row from Chadoora. Another former Minister Ashraf Mir gained prominence in the party and was termed as 'giant killer' after he defeated former chief minister Omar Abdullah in state assembly elections in 2014. |
