9 coin weight machines gathering dust at Jammu bus stand | | | Vinod Sharma
Jammu, Sept 28: The coin weight machines installed at Jammu Bus Stand have been gathering dust for the last few months but the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) has seemingly forgotten to set the machines right. A shop keeper Rajesh Singh said that the machines were set up at various locations near the ticket counters at Jammu Bus Stand many years ago. Earlier, JDA used to collect huge money as large number of commuters used the machines but slowly the revenue generation declined as the machines developed snags. "Initially one or two machines went out of order but at present all the machines are lying defunct", Singh said. "Some passengers still insert coins in the machine to get the weight slip of cardboard but feel depressed after the machines fails them", a commuter Mohammad Ayub said. He further said that few months ago, some of the machines were operational but showed wrong results. He compared the machines to statutes. He said that an employee usually visited the Bus Stand to collect money from the machines but for the last two months, the employee was also not found missing. Another shopkeeper said that the system in the machines was very small and could be repaired easily. "Either the department should repair the machines or remove them from the Bus stand", another shopkeeper said. |
