Now, BJP MLA asks Govt deptts to file cases against whistle-blower | Ulta choor kotwal ko dantay | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 30: In a bid to settle scores with a whistle-blower from Sunderbani, Rajouri who has exposed the muck in the system, senior BJP leader, accused of unleashing goonda raj, is pressuring the administration to file complaints against the former. As if murderous assault on this Early Times whistle-blower around a week ago was not enough, the MLA is asking Power Development Department (PDD), Forest, Rural Development, Public Health Engineering and Public Works Department to file a complaint each with Sunderbani police against the man. A senior official said they have strict verbal directives from the leader and his henchmen that "the Early Times reporter has to be taught a lesson of life so that no one in future raises voice against the leader." Sources said in one of the cases the Assistant Executive Engineer PDD has approached the SHO Sunderbani with a fake complaint of misbehaviour by the whistle-blower who would call officials only to verify veracity of complaints received against their office. Interestingly, the PDD has filed a compliant before police against the whistle-blower, though just last month the same department officials came on record to admit that around one kilometer long coil of power transmission line was recovered from the house of a BJP worker. Though the department didn't file any police complaint against the BJP worker for his proximity with the MLA, the PDD has filed a complaint against the whistle-blower who has been exposing the dirty underbelly of politics in the region. "We are helpless but have to go by the dictations of the MLA Sahib, who is all powerful," said a PDD official pleading anonymity. Though some days back the henchmen of the BJP leader attacked the poor man and threatened to kill him, the BJP leader and others in the BJP declined to comment on the issue. The state president of BJP, Sat Sharma, on the other hand told Early Times not to call him any further over the murderous attack on the whistle-blower. Meanwhile, a civil society group has decided to pick up the matter personally with Prime Minister Narendra Modi over growing goonda raj of some BJP leaders in Jammu province. "Modi is against corruption, exploitation and favouritism; our forum will definitely seek his intervention," the forum said, adding that harassment of a whistle-blower is a criminal offence. |
