Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 30: The crime branch (CB) of J&K police has booked a man for allegedly cheating people in the name of sending them abroad. The victims had filed a written complaint in this regard in the court of special mobile magistrate, Jammu, who then forwarded it to CB. They had come in contact with one Rajinder Singh, son of Kartar Singh of Bhode Samrai near Jamsher in Jullandar, Punjab, through an advertisement regarding work visas for Australia, Canada and other countries. The advertisement was published in a local newspaper. He had set up his office in sector 5-A of Trikuta Nagar. Rajinder asked them to visit his office at Trikuta Nagar and meet Rozy, his authorised signatory. In the office, the complainants agreed to pay an amount of Rs 1.50 lakh, including documentation charges, per person. They were also got medically examined at Krishna Diagnostic Centre, Trikuta Nagar, against a payment of Rs 6,500 per person. Thereafter, the accused took their passports, photographs, voter Id cards, PAN cards and an advance of Rs 65,000 from each of them against proper receipts. At Rajinder's instance, they reached Nehru Place in Delhi for interview but were shocked to know that the receipts issued by the accused were fake. On this, they tried to contact the accused but he didn't answer their phone calls. During verification, CB found that the accused had cheated and duped the complainants of their hard earned money amounting to Rs 7,86,500 on the pretext of providing them work visas for Australia, Canada and other countries. The CB has booked the accused under sections 420, 406, 465, 466, 467 and 468 of RPC. —JNF |
