Fighting for slavery under Pakistan, not for Azadi | Kashmir unrest | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 6: October 6 is considered a black day by Kashmiris. They say they "lost their sovereignty" that day in 1586. What happened that day? That day, Mughal ruler Akbar extended his rule to Kashmir after war. In other words, they consider Akbar a foreigner. It is a different story that they have a different take when it comes to the demolition of Babri Masjid. They say the demolition further alienated Kashmiris from India and it strengthened their resolve to achieve freedom from India. Are they really fighting from Azadi or what they call their sovereignty which they lost in 1586? The answer cannot be yes. They are fighting against Indian liberal rule and for slavery under Pakistan. Not a single Kashmiri leader fails to refer to Pakistan in his/her statement. They all ask New Delhi to engage with Pakistan and also say that Pakistanis a party to the dispute. Geelani, Andrabi, Salahuddin, Mirwaiz, Yasin Malik, Shabir Ahmad Shah, the civil society groups in Kashmir, opinion makers and commentators and who not make Pakistan the cornerstone of their formulations and narratives. They wave Pakistani flags almost every Friday. They also wave the IS black flags and indulge in violence. And they are fighting for slavery under the rogue state of Pakistan at a time when sectarian strife has gripped Pakistan. The Sindhis are up in arms against the Pakistani Punjab, saying their identity is under threat and that the Punjabis, who control the state of Pakistan, ill-treat them and perpetrate injustice after injustice on them. The Pakistani Rangers control Sindh. Balochistan, which constitute almost 45 per cent of the state of Pakistan, is in revolt. The Baloch’s say they will take rest only after they achieved independence from Pakistani Punjab. Pakistani Army is using drones, tanks and all barbarous methods to quell revolt in Balochistan. Significantly, Kashmiris in PoJK and Gilgit-Baltistan are also up in arms against Pakistan and they are demanding independence from it. They are accusing Pakistan of denying them democratic rights and using barbarous means to suppress their freedom struggle. The fact of the matter is that many from all these areas have migrated to Europe and other countries and mobilizing international opinion against Pakistan and in favour of their demand seeking independence from Pakistan. Ironically, none of the Kashmiris leader speaks for the oppressed Baloch’s, Sindhi’s and people of PoJK and Gilgit-Baltistan. Contrarily, they talk Pakistan, walkPakistan and yearn for Pakistan. They are not for Azadi; they are for Pakistan. The common Kashmiri must realize it and also realize that the kind of freedom they enjoy in India is nowhere in the world. |
