Altering norms, JU makes PRC mandatory for appointments | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 14: The administration of Jammu University has allegedly tailored the rules to adjust blue-eyed candidates against various positions. According to the new rules, which were placed and passed in University Syndicate meeting held in August, the Permanent Resident Certificates (PRC) has been made mandatory for appointments up to Deputy Registrar. Item number 110.69 of the meeting calls for adoption of the recommendations of the committee constituted for framing all administrative positions. "Resolved that the applicability of (PRC up to the post of Deputy Registrar be maintained and the post be filled up accordingly," reads the minutes of the meeting. However, it is being alleged that the new rules have been introduced only to accommodate the favourite candidates. "Earlier, the JU ordered cancelation of appointments of Assistant Registrars", sources in JU told Early Times. "It seems that the amendments were made to pave the way for some blue-eyed candidates." Sources said that apart from the norms laid down by the UGC, eligibility for tenure posts has been amended. "Resolved further that for the higher administrative posts, the norms prescribed by the UGC shall be applicable and for tenure posts the applicant should have a two-year remaining service on the date of issuance of the advertisement notice", reads item number of 110.69 of the meeting. Sources said the amendment for appointment of tenure posts was again done to adjust several persons who have two years and more remaining service. "Some influential people who are holding administrative posts in the university and are very close to Vice Chancellor, will be eligible for tenure posts in near future", sources added. |
