| BJP ministers avoid RSS function to appease Kashmiri leaders | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 14: Although some religious groups have given call for shutdown in some parts of Jammu region on Saturdayagainst RSS rally in Kishtwar district, it is first time in the history of RSS that no senior BJP leader has attended annual route march of the Sangh on its foundation day on Dusshera.
Sangh leadership is not ready to speak on conspicuous absent of BJP leaders, especially ministers in the "route march" programmes, credible sources said that most of the ministers and senior leaders avoided RSS programmes to keep Hurriyat Conference and other separatist groups of Kashmir Valley in good humour. Second BJP ministers could not dare to annoy coalition partner PDP so they avoided attend RSS Vijaydashmi functions, which were held different parts of Jammu region. Last year most of the BJP ministers had attended Vijaydashmi function but this year they skipped the same.
Credible sources in the Sangh circle said that all senior BJP leaders including Ministers were invited to attend Vijaydashmi functions in their respective areas but all ministers, except one, avoided attending the function because after getting power they are more concerned about keeping Kashmir centric groups in good humour.
Credible sources said that a senior BJP minister, who got important position all due to his RSS background, was specially invited by the RSS leadership to atlest attend one function to give a message to the anti-national forces but the senior ministers gave some excuse to avoid the function. Minister's advisors warned that attending RSS function with RSS uniform will not give a positive message so it would be in his personal interest not to attend any function. Other BJP ministers and leaders were looking towards that minister when he refused to attend Vijaydashmi functions, others also follow suit.
Credible sources said that there is strong anger among Sangh cadre against attitude of BJP ministers who are trying to project themselves as more secular and modern by ignoring RSS.
Interestingly national leaders like Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadenvis had openly attend Vijaydashmi function at Nagpur that too in RSS uniform but in J&K fear of separatist groups has forced BJP leaders and ministers to avoid RSS functions. |
