| Inquiry officer recommends stopping salary of primary school staff | | Dereliction in duty | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Oct 14: Cluster head Principal of higher secondary school, has recommended to the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) of Baljarralan zone to stop the salary of the entire staff of a primary school for dereliction of duty.
Following complaints of large scale misappropriation in the ration issued for the preparation of Mid Day Meal (MDM) in the school, he directed the in-charge of the primary school to produce the concerned register for further verification.
The matter came to the notice of the cluster head, Principal of government higher secondary school (HSS) ,Dhangri on October 4 when some inhabitants of village Kaian Bhindi informed the Principal that primary school in their village is locked at 1.30 pm.
To verify the authenticity of the complaint, Principal rushed an officer of the HSS to village Kaian Bhindi.
At about 2 pm the officer found that no student was present in the school, however two teachers were sitting in the school.
"On inquiring, teachers couldn't give satisfactory reply about the absence of the students and the officer demanded the attendance register and MDM registers" said a source.
Officer found the presence of 49 students was marked on the attendance register and also, as per MDM register, Mid Day Meal was prepared and served to 49 students.
"If the students were in the institution till recess and were also served Mid Day Meal, then why they were not present at 2 pm? It means that the school was closed and on getting information that an inquiry officer is heading towards the school both the teachers opened the school but couldn't call the students" said the source.
Apprehending that the people's complaint regarding the locking of the school was genuine and the failure of the in-charge to produce the record as well as explanation of the quarries, the officer directed the in-charge of the school to visit the office of the cluster head (Principal office) on October 8 along with records and written explanation on October 8 positively.
As the in-charge failed to produce the written explanation demanded and the records of the school on October 8 hence, Principal vide his office letter No.HSSD/R/277/2016 dt 14/10/16 has directed the ZEO to ZEO to stop the salary of the whole staff of the primary school with immediate effect and initiate disciplinary action warranted under rules against the erring officials. |
