BMS demands minimum wages enhancement | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 16: Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) demanded that minimum wages be enhanced to Rs 300/- with V.D.A Bari Brahmana in a meeting of industrial workers unions held at Baribrahmana in presence of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh Jammu and Kashmir General Secretary Ashok Choudhary and vice president Harbans Choudhary. Addressing the meeting, members of BMS said that Jammu and Kashmir is the only state which has lowest minimum wages in the country. They said that 12 hours duties are being taken but no overtime under law is given neither wage slip is given and workers are forced to work in inhuman conditions poor implementation of ESI and PF. BMS has demanded from the state Government that minimum wages must be increased to Rs 300/- per day for unskilled worker and also demanded for implementation of Variable Dearness Allowance in the state. They also said that the officials of the Labour Department , ESI and PF should check the violations being committed by the employers. The ESI dispensaries have no diagnostic lab test facilities across the state and patients have to suffer for common tests which causes in connivance to workers. They said that it was very shocking that two months have passed as ESIC has agreed in principal that they will bear all the expenses on account of all lab test provided state govt AMO (Administrative Medical Officer ESI) under labour department has to tie up with the already paneled hospitals /laboratories tied up with ESIC so it has been also demanded that ESI dispensary be allowed to get diagnostic lab test from ESI panel health care institutions. They further raised the concern over the irregular timing of ESI dispensaries as staff is not punctual to word their duties and after 2 pmthey did not attend the patients so Biometric attendance machine be also installed in all the dispensaries. |
