JKCA; just revolving chairs, no serious business | J&K's record dismal, won just 7.8 percent matches | | Syed Junaid Hashmi Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 16: It seems as if Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) is more a game of revolving chairs and not an association serious about its job. A look at the record books clearly indicates that Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) should either get serious about the job assigned to it or all those who claim of having played for J&K and knowing cricket well should resign from their respective positions. Before dwelling on the past doings of J&K Cricket Association (JKCA), the association knows little or nothing about players playing for Jammu and Kashmir. On the internationally acclaimed websites where details of cricket players are available, those who are currently playing for Jammu and Kashmir are without any profile. Their profiles are missing. Barring Mithun Manhas who is now leading the J&K team and ex-captain Parvez Rasool, both of whom have managed to reach heights of success due to their own hardwork, you have to do an extensive search to find out who the other players are in team Jammu and Kashmir. Most of the players do not have photographs on these internationally acclaimed websites despite being regular members of Team Jammu and Kashmir. Those whose photographs are missing include some of the star performers. The association had left no stone unturned in spreading the news that a female had been engaged to keep track of team Jammu and Kashmir besides reporting regularly for various cricket magazines and newspapers. But the manner in which the cricketers of J&K have been neglected raises serious questions on the seriousness of JKCA in keeping track of the players being drafted by them for various national events. Not only this, a look at track records reveals that J&K has played 268 matches and lost 185 with 62 drawn and 9 abandoned. J&K has won 21 matches. A deeper analysis reveals that J&K has won just 7.8 percent of the total matches played by the team. Of these 21, most of the wins have been record during the last 10 years and more so in the last 6 years. Hence, the results do raise serious questions on the competence of those heading the JKCA since they failed to win matches during their time but are now selectors of the team Jammu and Kashmir. It has also been a matter of serious concern how the selectors ensure that their own children are selected and later, they also play for the team. |
