PHC Chatral defunct, locals suffer; authorities in slumber | | | Rajesh Tandon Early Times Report Mendhar, Oct 25: Government Primary Health Centre (PHC) Chatral of Poonch district is without basic facilities including medicines and attendants of the patients have to buy the same from outside in the market. Although Health department and the concerned ministry make tall claims about better health care yet the people are crying for better medicarea particularly in remote areas. According to the sources from Chatral of Mendhar, the Primary Health Centre ( PHC) remains always shut down frequently. Anguished at the lack of medicines, the angry locals said that the hospital in no way serves the patients in area if the same situation persists, the people will take to the roads. An attendant, Gulshana, said they face lot of problems in absence of the due facilities at this PHC meant to provide healthcare. "There are no medicines available in the hospital. If anyone falls ill at night, people if come here find no doctors available here and a compounder (paramedical staff) is the last resort. And he also asks people to buy medicines from outside." Expressing their shock over the carelessness of higher authorities of the department, locals said they have approached to Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Poonch repeatedly in this regard but no action has taken by him till now. Another local Asgar told Early Times, that more than thirty thousand who are suffering due to lack of facilities in said PHC. He said night staff remains always absent. He also lamented that non-availability of ambulance worthier worsens the health care. He appealed to chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and health minister Bali Bhagat to intervene the matter personally and conduct a knifed in this regard. Meanwhile an employee of the hospital, wishing anonymity, said that situation is worst since last two months. |
