ITI exams hang in balance; students in dilemma | | | Vinod Sharma

Jammu, Oct 25: The State Board of Technical Education (SBTE) has failed to conduct exams of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) despite lapse of three months. The helpless students are waiting for their examination since July. A student from ITI Bhaddu Balor said he has been waiting for the final exams since July. But unfortunately, he said, taking refuge in the ongoing turmoil in the Valley, the Directorate of Technical Education, has not issued date-sheet or exam schedule. Another student, who is studying in ITI RS Pura, said he feels tired as examinations go far beyond their schedule. "The wait is exhausting. The lessons we studied in the beginning of the course have washed away from our minds", he said, adding that if timely examination is not conducted, it will cost heavily to them. "This is totally wastage of time, we are in a dilemma because of poor planning of the administration", said another student from ITI Kathua. "I belong to a poor family and have faced a lot of difficulties during my study, but nowadays I'm in a fix. Should I wait for exam or search for a job", he added. "The Kashmir turmoil has destroyed the whole preparation for exam, and it is difficult for me to concentrate on examination. I am facing very tough time of my life. Neither can I get a job without diploma nor can I leave the course midway", he added. Baldav Raj, Superintendent of ITI Bhaddu Balor, blamed the Valley turmoil for delay in holding exams of ITI students. Deputy Register ITI, Farooq Khan said the "Darbar will begin in Jammu from first week of November, and it is expected that the exam will start before November 20." |
