77 Govt Forces personnel killed till Oct 24 this year | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar , Oct 25: The death toll Security Forces in different militancy related incidents has reached to 77, the highest since 2010 in Kashmir Valley. In 2010, Security Establishment had lost around 69 soldiers in 488 militancy-related incidents. "Till October 24 this year, we have lost 77 of our men including 40 Army men, 11 CRPF, 15 Policemen, 6 Border Security Forces personnel and one SSB man. This is the highest figure of casualties since 2010," a Defence official told . He added that 122 militants have been neutralized till October 24 this year. "We lost nineteen soldiers in a deadly militant attack on Army's Brigade Headquarters in Uri sector of north Kashmir's Baramulla district 18 September. The increasing number of soldier casualties is alarming and we relate it to the increase in infiltration bids," he said adding that 26 infiltration attempts were foiled by the army this year. "In 2011 we lost 33 soldiers and in 2012, 15 soldiers died in different militancy related incidents. The number of deaths on army side was 53 in 2013 and 47 in 2014. This year the soldier casualties are highest," he said adding that Army didn't suffer any causalities this year in the months of January, March and April. |
