SMC starts demolition drive in Srinagar 10/25/2016 11:35:25 PM Muhammad Mukaram Early Times Report Srinagar , Oct 25: Taking cognizance of the news report published in this newspaper on October 8, the Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has started a drive to demolish the illegal structures and buildings that have come up in many areas in the city. Acting tough against the illegal construction in the city, the Commissioner SMC visited several places in Srinagar and started the demolition drive.Its in place to mention here that Early Times had reported that the illegal constructions have been carried out in areas like Ahmad Nagar, HMT, Ali Jan road and Hyderpora. The commissioner SMC, Bashir Ahmed Khan while talking to Early Times said, "A few people have taken the advantage of the prevailing situation and multiple illegal constructions have come up in many areas of the Srinagar city and scores of cases have been registered by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) so far." Khan said that they have registered FIRs against several persons in different city areas who have raised illegal constructions during the prevailing situation. "Today we toured Rajbagh and HMT areas but we were not able to visit 90 feet road where we also are getting many complaints of illegal construction.
