Desperate for an escape, Separatists claim victory in meeting Sinha panel | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 27: Pushed to the wall by the hard stand of the Modi government, separatists and their front agencies have found saving grace in meeting the Yashwant Sinha led panel which doesn't have either the sanction or the mandate from Central government or the BJP. The separatists are claiming moral victory, which though has not gone down well with the people of the Kashmir. "How could the separatists say it's a moral victory after the death of about 90 youth and life crippled for three long months? Whom are they befooling? If they instigated the youth for violence for talks with former union minister who is not even in talking terms with the PM, It's just another ploy to fool the people after they got woefully exposed," said a senior official. Sayed Ali Shah Geelani , who once refused to meet All-party delegation led by the Home Minister Rajnath Singh, said the talks were held in a congenial atmosphere and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had termed it as a moral victory. Even KCCI which once said they are not worried about the losses has also held talks with the delegation. Sources said the separatists were told to go ahead with any semblance of talks from their handlers in the Pakistan as it is increasingly under pressure from the India after the Uri attack. The Indian card of Balochistan and recent violence against Chinese' construction activities have only doubled the pressure. "The Chinese are probably also pressuring Pakistan to end separatist and terrorist activities in the J&K as it fears huge economic loss if people of India voluntarily stopped buying Chinese products which has already started," said a senior official. Sources said the Modi government will not budge from its earlier stated position of not holding talks with the separatists and it has further reiterated it by clearly distancing itself from the Sinha panel. "The separatist now stand totally exposed. People first started defying their protest calendars and now how will they take it that Sinha led panel has the solution for the problem created by the separatists after the death of about 90 people. They will have to answer the people and more importantly once things settle down, there will be no takers for them," said the official. |
