Incidents of arson increase in city centre, Sgr's old city | Out of jail, Malik, Mirwaiz resort to dirty tricks again | | Kashmir Unrest
Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 27: The Government's decision to give some respite to Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and the so-called chief of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Yasin Malik seems to have boomeranged as incidents of arson have increased since the day they have come out from the jail. It's in place to mention here that Malik was shifted from Central Jail to SK Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) at Soura, while Mirwaiz was brought to his Nageen residence from Cheshma-Shahi earlier this week. They were released on the pretext that they would hold talks with the track-II team led by the former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha and would also hold talks among themselves to end the shutdown in Kashmir, which completed 111 days on Thursday. Sources said that since the day Malik and Mirwaiz have come out miscreants have intensified their activities and they are targeting the people who are defying the shutdown. Insiders said that intelligence agencies had advised the government not to release any of the separatists till the people resume their daily chores and normalcy is restored on the streets of Kashmir. "Everyday miscreants are attacking street vendors, vehicles and shops to establish the writ of separatists and their masters sitting across the Line of Control (LoC). This is a very dangerous trend," they added. A Kashmir watcher while talking to Early Times said, "It seems that government's decision to provide respite to Malik and Mirwaiz has backfired. It looks like that both of them have once again activated their henchmen to foment trouble on the streets of Kashmir." He said, "The government should reconsider its decision as separatists have hoodwinked them. Their actions are speaking louder than their words. During the past two to three days miscreants have reappeared on the streets to terrorize people." Sources said that Malik and Mirwaiz being freed has encouraged trouble mongers. "Security agencies and Police have worked very hard to end the protests and stone pelting. A few people, who can orchestrate the street protests are still out and they are in touch with the terrorists," they added. Insiders said that Yasin Malik and Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz had assured the government that they would play a positive role if they are set free from the jail but they have not kept their word and are dancing to the tunes of their handlers sitting across the LoC. "The separatists issuing one more protest calendar and Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz threatening to break the cordon and move towards Jamia Majsid in Srinagar's old city on Friday could be just a beginning to provoke the security forces yet again as no killings taking place doesn't suit separatists. Miscreants becoming active in old city areas and city centre are an indication about the fact that separatists are regrouping and ganging up again to burn Kashmir to appease their masters. If government waits and allows them to call the shots then there is every possibility about Kashmir unrest getting prolonged. It's high time for the government to act rather than appeasing the separatists, who along with a handful of people have taken Kashmir hostage for the past more than three months," said an analyst. |
