| Dogri Sanstha organizes musical event | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 27: Dogri Sanstha, Jammu offered a poetic and musical bonanza to the music lovers at Abhinav Theatre here today.
According to press release, the occasion was an evening of Dogri melodies namely 'Geet Jehde Meray Mann Bhaae' in which talented singer Dharmesh Nargotra presented his choicest songs and Ghazals composed by noted music director Brij Mohan over the years . The convergence of entrancing music and poignant poetry left the melody enthusiasts mesmerized.
A large number of Dogri and music lovers formed the audience which included writers, artistes and prominent citizens. MS. Sangeeta Gupta (Principal Commissioner, Income Tax and Hindi poet and painter of national fame, was the chief guest on this occasion while Prof Lalit Magotra, renowned writer and Convener, Advisory Board for Dogri at Sahitya Akademi presided over the function .
The programme took off with immortal ghazal by Pal Deep ' unda baddhaa haa jaan saarha haa kasur , hunde reh as jindadi bhar loor loor , which was received by the audience with thunderous applaud.
The special feature of the programme, presented in the honour of the chief guest, was staging of a Dogri version of a Hindi poem written by Sangeeta Gupta in most effectual and innovative format which incorporated recital of blank verse in original Hindi language by versatile performer Kusum Tikku and singing of same couplets in Dogri by young and melodious singer Apoorva Jamwal.
Speaking on this occasion Sangeeta Gupta congratulated Dogri Sanstha for their venturing such musical programmes and appreciated the effort of Brij Mohan and Dharmesh Nargotra for popularizing poetry through music. |
