| Chaktroo residents allege embezzlement in R&B Deptt | | | Rajesh Tandon

Poonch, Oct 29: Alleging poor shape of roads in their locality, the residents from village Chaktroo alleged embezzlement of lakhs government expenditure by the concerned Public Works(R&B) Department in the name of construction of Chaktroo to Pothi link road.
Substantiating the facts official sources said, "Vide official letter from the Office of Deputy Commissioner under no DDCP/BADP/2016-17/3809 dtd 14th of October 2015, sanctioned rupees eleven lakhs and sixty two thousand for the construction of Pothi Chaktroo road, under Annual Action Plan under the BADP scheme for 2016-17." "Deputy Commissioner Poonch has order ordered to concern department vide order DDCP/137 of 2016 dtd 14/10/2016.
Locals have resented the poor shape of road and alleged the concern department has embezzled lakhs public exchequer.
According to sources Deputy Commissioner Poonch has released the funds amounting rupees 186.09 lakhs at the disposal of Chief Engineer PWD(R&B) circle Poonch Rajouri but the said road still is in bad shape.
Residents namely Qazi Mushtaq Ahmed, Badar Din, Sadar Din, Manzoor Hussain and Mohammad Hussain allegedly that the concerned department has embezzled the funds and said department is trying to balance accountability by showing funds managed for liability of previous works. The locals have demanded GAD to probe the matter. |
