Tired up of shelling, border dwellers of Jammu want 'Aar Paar Ka fasla'
10/29/2016 11:07:16 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 29: As there is no respite from cross border firing, which has lasted almost for the last one-month--triggered after surgical strikes by the Army across Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir(PoK), all fed up residents of villages close to the international border in Jammu now want permanent solution to the frequent shelling from the other side, with a 'Aar Paar Ka Fasla'(decisive steps). Living under fear-psychosis in the wake of heavy bombardment from across the border almost daily, the border dwellers are of the view that it is better to die once than to 'fear of death every day' and the government should find out one-time settlement to solve the issue.
Enough is enough. We cannot run helter-skelter every day leaving our homes to spend days and nights in relief camps,'' Santokh Kumar of Suchetgarh near here told.
A depressed villager said that life has become miserable due to firings. ''Ghar se chale to jaate hein bachhon ke saath par wapas aana parta hai pashuyon ko chara daalen ke liye(Though we leave homes with kids for their safety but we have to return to feed the cattle every morning),'' he said.
However, patting the security forces (BSF and the Army) for fighting against the enemy and standing tall on the borders to protect their lives, Chamel Hansa of Abdullian said, ''This is like a nightmares for us..,..Many elders have fallen sick due to sleepless nights.'' The administration has provided medical health care facilities at some of the locations to monitor health of the border residents but still, it is not easy all the time to stay calm when bullets and mortars rain in the villages, he rued.
Shanno Devi of Chandu Chak, who is putting up in a relief camp at R S Pura, said, ''tayohaar chal rahe hein par hamare liye koi tayohar nahi. Karwa Chauth bhi dar dar ke manaya aur aub Diwali pe na jaane kya hoga, (Festive season is on but for us no festivity around.., Observed karwa chauth fast and rituals under the cover gun and now God knows what is going to happen on Diwali).''
She said, ''bas aub aar ya paar hona chahiye. Hum bhi thak chuke hein bhagte bhagte(now it should be decisive measure..,..we are tired of running for shelters again and again)''.
