| Excise Commissioner, J&K, T Angchuk chairs 'revenue review' meeting | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 16: Excise Commissioner, J&K , T Angchuk took Revenue Review Meeting of various officers of Excise and Taxation Department, for the month of October, on Tuesday at the Excise and Taxation Complex, Jammu.
According to official spokesperson, the over-all growth scenario of the revenue receipts of the Excise Department for the month of June was discussed threadbare viz-a-viz targets fixed.
During the meeting the Excise Commissioner T Angchuk appreciated the comprehensive drive launched by the Excise Department in Jammu division to arrest the menace of illegal smuggling of liquor, illicit distillation and other violations of the J&K Excise Act, 1958.
He applauded the hectic efforts of field staff which during the month of October, destroyed over 8000 Kgs of material being used Lahan (illicit Liquor), in the entire Jammu division. He specially appreciated the job of field functionaries including Sandeep Gupta, ETO, Kathua Excise Range and his team, which has recently confiscated a vehicle carrying Punjab bound liqour en-route to J&K for illegal sale .
Meeting was also apprised, 33 toll evasion cases were detected during the month of October besides confiscation of8,575 willow clefts at Lakhanpur Toll Post. The efforts made by the Excise staff at Toll Post Lakhanpurto ensure smooth flow of traffic to the State, after the process of demonetisation of currency was also appreciated.
It was also apprised that In Kashmir valley massive Bhang destruction campaign was started by the Excise Department Kashmir till October 2016. "In the process Bhang on 180 kanals of land was destroyed during the month of October besides destruction of poppy on 2873 kanals of land upto October end, official added.
During the meeting, all the officers of the Excise Department, were exhorted and impressed by the Excise commissioner, J&K towards day and night strict vigil to improve revenue realization during the current fiscal and work hard to generate revenue for the State. All the Deputy Excise Commissioners & Excise and Taxation Officers were present in the meeting. |
