H&ME team praised for implementation of NHM

jammu, Nov 16: The Ministry of Health & family Welfare, Govt of India conducted 10th Common Review Mission of the Jammu & Kashmir with the objective to review the progress of implementation of National Health Mission.
The CRM team comprised of 17 members including senior officers and consultants from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, NITI AYOG, Mission Steering Group, National Health Systems Resource Centre, headed by Rathi Balachandran, Additional Director General, Govt of India. The team conducted eight days exhaustive review of implementation of National Health Mission Anantnag and Ramban for observing the Health Care Services being delivered at various levels. The team paid visit to two district hospitals, 6 SDH/CHCs, 12 PHCs, 10 sub centres, 4 AWCs and some schools & villages.
During the course of visit, the team interacted with ASHAs, AWWs, local community members, PRIs, school staff and students. The team appreciated state for availability of good infrastructure, diagnostic services, availability of human resources, mobilization of resources from other institutions and community awareness for health seeking behaviour.
The team also appreciated the state for implementing Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT) through Public Fund Management System for payments of ASHA incentives and JSY incentives. The team also observed that there is a good cold chain management system for transportation of vaccines from the state to district and then to sub centre level.
CRM team was highly satisfied by the working of Health Department even during the unrest in Kashmir valley. The team observed that the district hospital Anantnag had handled high case load and managed 778 major surgeries, 5664 minor surgeries and even the anti TB drugs were provided to the beneficiaries at their doorstep during the period of turmoil.
Dr. MK Bhandari Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education, who chaired the de-briefying session along with Dr. Mohan Singh Mission Director NHM, J&K; Director Health Services Kashmir; Director Health Services, Jammu and Director Family Welfare, J&K, assured the team that all the recommendations put forth by the team shall be implemented in letter and spirit.
