ABVP seeks Dr R D Sharma's removal as VC | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 16: ABVP on Wednesday demanded that the incumbent Vice Chancellor of Jammu University should be sacked for the alleged statement made in favour of a militant, Burhan Bani who was killed by security forces in month of July. While addressing the press conference here today, Varsha Jandial, State secretary asserted that when the whole country is contributing to the nation in different aspects and also boosting up the moral of security forces who are continuously fighting for the nation, it is a matter of great concern as well as shame also that JU VC had questioned the integrity of our national security forces. She further said that we all know that every year when secretariat moves to Kashmir , situation somewhere becomes disturbing as it is in the nature of separatists and this time coincidentally the encounter of Burhan Wani took place at the same time and they took this issue to exploit the life of the common people especially students. Burhan Wani could never be the icon of any person as he was purely a destructing element and well demanded terrorist of the time. He had exploited the life of the bulk of youths by letting them follow the path of terrorism which ultimately leads to innocent killings. Icons are purely different. They construct the nation; not destruct. Varsha further asserted that being on an official position, JU VC was not expected to do so. He was actually a direction provider and an icon for the students. But stating so that "Burhan should not be killed…" I felt that none of the students should follow him now and he also could nowhere be the icon of any student. Now the students are not accepting his antinational approach and he has no right to be on his official chair. This is dangerous for peace and stability of the sensitive state like Jammu-Kashmir. The persons having such a mind-set can turn an educational institution into a hub of terrorists, she alleged. |
