DODA, Nov 16: People of Chenab region are suffering badly due to the non availability of notes of Rs 500 and Rs 100 Denomination in the banks who maintain that this shortage of currency notes has brought the routine business to halt. After the decision of the government to change all the existing notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 the customers and business community as well are facing hardships. Majority of the population in the entire Chenab valley especially hailing from rural areas keep the cash with them to meet the daily needs. During winters most of the far off habitations remain cut off from the respective tehsil and district headquarters and people are busy in making arrangements for the Chilae Kalan but the sudden decision of the government has left them hapless. Many people are not able to purchase the essential commodities to be stored for winter months and the poor villagers are in a fix with the notes of 2000 as nobody in the market is accepting these notes due to non availability of Rs 100 and Rs 500 notes. Not only the consumers are at losers end but the business community too is facing the burnt due to inadequate supply of the currency notes. Thus majority of business community has appealed to the government and concerned banking authorities to meet the desired demand of currency so that people may not put at losers end. |
