People seek restoration of mobile internet | | | Majid Nabi
Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 16: People in trouble hit Kashmir valley including Srinagar city appealed authorities to restore mobile internet service so that they may be able to experience the super speed of 'Jio 4G' launched of late by Reliance group across India. Pertinently, government had snapped mobile internet services in Kashmir valley to contain rumor mongering on social media including Facebook and Whatsapp after the death of Hizbul Mujahideen militant, Burhan Wani in an encounter with security forces on July 8. It is worth mentioning that people mostly youth in Srinagar city obtained Jio connection after waiting in long queues for hours together when the whole valley was on boil. "Government should seriously think about restoration of mobile internet services in Kashmir, it has been more than four months now but government is yet to take any decision in this regard," Sheikh Suleiman a Scholar at Kashmir University said. The varsity Scholar claimed that everyone in this Jet age is reliant on internet and the government by not restoring it is pushing people to early man's time. "Situation in Kashmir is limping back to normalcy, even passenger vehicles which remained off the roads for over four months started plying, situation is now relatively better and the government must not let people suffer anymore," said he. Gowhar Ahmad, a shopkeeper at Rajbagh area of Civil Lines said " I got reliance Jio connection but how could I use the same and experience 4G services, we are really enthusiastic to experience the 4G services but don't know why this government is overstretching the issue by not restoring mobile internet in Kashmir". A Reliance employee assigned to distribute jio connections in Srinagar said that people amid stringent curfew and shutdown turned up to get Jio Sims but there seems no visible signs whether the government has any plan to restore mobile internet services in Kashmir or not. "I don't think that there should be any delay in restoring internet services in Kashmir, Jio has announced free calling and unlimited 4G internet surfing across India till December 31, which may be extended till March next year, but it is only a Kashmiri's who may not enjoy it given the government's reluctance to restore internet in Kashmir," he said. |
