Overloading goes unabated in Samba | | | Early Times Report Samba, Nov 30: Despite an increase in the number of road accidents caused due to rash driving and overloading becoming a serious cause of concern for the authorities, no strict action has been taken yet. The overloading mini buses, auto and buses also continues in this route including National Highway Samba, Sumb route, border route and entire route in the Samba district. Few months ago, the accident also happened in National highway near Nanke Chack in which three people got killed and several injured due to overloading several people lost their lives. The overloaded vehicle running on National Highway flouts norms under the nose of traffic Police. According to Sources, the traffic Police held a nakka only eye wash to the people, but the traffic cops are seen busy to collect the entry from the truck drivers and other vehicles. To earn more, local bus and minibus operators are violating traffic norms and accommodating more passengers than capacity in the vehicles. The buses running on Jammu-Kathua National Highway also race with each other to get passenger. "Not only overloading, but rash driving also is major trouble for people. The traffic police seem to be casual and have a turned blind eye to the menace. Avatar Singh a truck driver moving from Lakhanpur to Bari brahmana said almost dozens of Nakka are held in National Highway by traffic Police and after paying the entry traffic cops never check the documents of the vehicle. If the drivers not pay the entry the cops misbehave with the drivers. The cops have fixed the entry rates from Rs 100 to Rs 500. |
