Influential employees never retire in Forest Deptt | | | Early Times Report
Rajauri, Nov 30: While the government servants are supposed to retire at the age of 60, around two dozen employees of Forest department here continue to work even after being due for superannuation for many years. Official sources said at least five Forest department employees here in Sunderbani tehsil alone have been working far ahead of their retirement age only because they had submitted fake date of birth certificates, something which the government never checked. "There are guards, helpers and even foresters who must have been working for over five to six years of their actual retirement age," the official sources said. They said it was mainly due to the influence of politicians enjoyed by these "senior citizens." "It seems that the government has allowed them to keep working in the department only to please some political party," the official said. Official sources said despite complaints having been received over their "age fraud", the concerned continue to be silent. "All of them enjoy patronage of the ruling BJP. As the Forest ministry is with this party, no one dares to probe the irregularities," the officials said. Sources said such influential employees tampered their service records and subsequently produced fake certificates in their offices. A senior official in the Forest department said it was injustice with the unemployed youth that those who should have retired years ago leaving vacancies for the unemployed, continue to work. He said it was high time for the government to initiate an inquiry into the matter. When contacted a senior official said credible complaints of date of birth fraud have come to their notice. "It's for the Forest minister to decide on the issue of initiating inquiry," the official told Early Times. Despite repeated attempts Forest minister could not be contacted for comments. |
